This, Nirjala Ekadashi among the 24 Ekadashis of the year is counted as the most austere and sacred Ekadashi. Due to a belief that it surpasses all the sins you have done and even after the death, you would be placed on Vaikuntha Dham, the abode of Lord Vishnu.
There is a common belief in Hindu mythology that after the death of a person, he/she would either go to heaven or hell. But, there is one tag along with, which believes whoever takes a fast on the day of Nirjala Ekadashi and worship Lord Vishnu, would prominently end up at Vaikuntha.
Ekadashi is the eleventh day of the lunar calendrical subject and a day devoted to Lord Vishnu. That’s why Vaishnavas, who worships Lord Vishnu as the greatest god has a lot of greatness towards this day. Usually, they worship Lord Vishnu and leave one time meal to address Ekadashi.
