Madhyapur Thimi municipality is a combined version of sub-villages like Chapacho, Balkumari, Bode, Nagadesh, and Lokanthali. It is also an ancient city, just like Bhaktapur Nagar. The shreds of evidence say that this city is around 3,000 years old. And the oldest known name of the city was Thimmring.
This city lies right in between the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley. The total area of the municipality is only 11.47 square kilometers. Yet, it holds a great diversity of cultures, people, and religions. Within the population of 83,036, the number of Hindus is higher and then comes the Buddhists.
For now, Mr, Surendra Shrestha is upholding all the duties and responsibilities of Madhyapur thimi as the mayor of the municipality.
Madhyapur thimiThe city is more famous for its pottery and agricultural production as well as the bitten rice. The bitten rice particularly holds an important place in the Newa cuisine. In a small village named Tigani, Tigi Baji is produced. Besides that, it holds a tremendous jar of festivals and jatras.
There are also several famous temples as well as the jatras related to them. Some of the famous temples of the thimi include the temple of Balkumari temple, Mahalaxmi temple, Nil Barahi temple, Siddhi kali temple, Digu Bhairava temple, Bakhachhen Mahadev temple, Shree 3 Vishnu Vir mai temple, Shiddhi Ganesh temple, and Lokeshwor temple.
For instance, it is a small yet beautiful city. That occasionally welcomes every community to be part of its celebrations.
