On September 3rd, 2022, an event with a limited number of listeners was held in Bhaktapur. The event was TEDx Bhaktapur. The videos of the speakers are now available for those who were unable to attend TEDx Bhaktapur. You can find them on YouTube or on the TEDx Bhaktapur website.
TEDx Bhaktapur is an independently organized TED event that is sanctioned by TED. It is being organized with the goal of involving youth in the spectrum of ideas worth spreading. The conference featured interdisciplinary presenters expressing their past experiences, current projects, and future visions to promote inquiry, innovation, and critical discussion, including those from the local community.
TEDx Bhaktapur began as a simple idea to spread the word of some infamous Bhaktapur residents. That could at the very least inspire young people who are struggling to make a fresh start. With that, the goal was to raise the profile of Bhaktapur and Bhaktapurians on a global scale.
Team behind TEDxBhaktapur
In some ways, TEDx Bhaktapur was the result of the determination of Bhaktapur’s youth. Nhuja Kiju, a real-life Bhaktapur hero who served without hesitation during the COVID breakout, is the true inspiration behind this success.
He was accompanied by a group that included Anil Pawn, Chandra Prajapati, Manisha Shrestha, Nikesh Raj Tulsibakhyo, Palistha Ranjitkar, Sadam Bala, and Suresh Twanabasu.
And we, Bhaktapur.com, are honored to be a part of the event. We primarily served as a communication partner and created a user-friendly and visually appealing website.
If you are new to TED or want to know more about it, here is a brief introduction.
What is TED?
TED stands for “technology, entertainment, and design.” The organization, which began in California 38 years ago, is a nonprofit organization, dedicated to spreading ideas through short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began as a conference where technology, entertainment, and design converged, and it now covers almost every topic imaginable, from science to business to global issues, in over 100 languages.
TED is an annual gathering of the world’s most influential thinkers and doers to share ideas that matter in any discipline. We also receive a great deal of educational discourse during the event in Bhaktapur. There were a total of six speakers at the event.
