Ranikot, at the sore of my eye, is one of the best places to blend with nature and yourself. Although it is nothing more than a vanished fort in between the trees, it provides a beautiful feeling of being at the top of, at least something.
Literally, it is not that far from the core city area of Bhaktpur yet it has this amazing blend of rural and urbanness. There are no local buses available to reach there and it is all covered up with dense woods all the way to the top.
So far, there are other side destinations too in Ranikot like the Bag Bhairava temple and recently emerged Chuchhe Dhunga Danda. Both of these destinations lie within half an hour of walking from Ranikot.
Well, those destinations come later but before that, you surely have to muddle in the dust and freezing air to even reach there.
But, all that uneasiness is worth experiencing. Upon reaching the fort (the actual Ranikot), you will realize why it was once the fort and is one of the best destinations. The never-ending slowed wind and the spectacular view of the valley to the eternity of your eyes are just mind-blowing.
On top of that, you could also witness these large ranges of Himalayas right above the valley.
Indeed, Ranikot is one of the beautiful destinations of Bhaktapur.
